Thematic Evaluation of English, Class 1-3

आधारभूत तह (कक्षा १-३) को पाठ्यक्रम २०७६ अनुसार कक्षा १-३ मा विषयक्षेत्र (Theme) अनुसार हरेक थिमको पठनपाठन पश्चात पाठ्यक्रममा तोकीएबमोजिमका सिकाइ उपलब्धि के कति पूरा भए भनि मूल्याङ्कन गर्ने र उक्त मूल्याङ्कनको अभिलेख राख्नुपर्ने व्यवस्था छ । कक्षा १-३ मा त्रैमासिक वा वार्षिक परीक्षाको व्यवस्था गरिएको छैन । अन्तिम मूल्याङ्कनको लागि निरन्तर रुपमा गरिएको थिम अनुसारको मूल्याङ्कनबाट प्राप्त अंकलाई जोडेर विद्यार्थीलाई ग्रेडसिट दिने व्यवस्था गरिएको छ ।

कक्षा १-३ मा गरिने विद्यार्थी मूल्याङ्कनलाई सिकाइ प्रक्रियाकै अभिन्न अङ्गका रूपमा प्रयोग गर्नु पर्दछ । यस्तो मूल्याङ्कनको मुख्य उद्देश्य विद्यार्थीको सिकाइ उपलब्धि तथा कमजोरीहरूको निरन्तर लेखाजोखा गरी सिकाइ सुधारका लागि पृष्ठपोषण प्रदान गर्नु हो ।

आधारभूत तह (कक्षा १-३) को पाठ्यक्रम २०७६ मा व्यवस्था गरिएका मूल्याङ्कनका साधनहरु निम्न बमोजिम छन् ।


मूल्याङ्कन कसरी गर्ने ?

- पहिलो चरणमा दैनिक कक्षा क्रियाकलापका रूपमा विद्यार्थीको सिकाइको मूल्याङ्कन गरी विद्यार्थीको सिकाइ सुधार गर्नुपर्दछ ।  मूल्याङ्कनको दोस्रो चरणमा कुनै सिकाइ उपलब्धि हासिल भयो वा भएन भनी उल्लिखित तरिका तथा साधनमध्ये उपयुक्त साधनहरू प्रयोग गरी विद्यार्थीको मूल्याङ्कन गरी सिकाइस्तर अभिलेखीकरण गर्नुपर्दछ ।

- यसरी अभिलेखित सिकाइस्तर १ वा २ मात्र भएमा सुधारात्मक सिकाइको योजना निर्माण गरी कम्तीमा उपलब्धिस्तर ३ पुर्‍याउने प्रयास गर्नुपर्दछ । उपलब्धिस्तर ३ प्राप्त गरेको विद्यार्थीलाई समेत ४ पुर्‍याउन सहयोग गर्नुपर्छ । यदि पटक पटकको प्रयासबाट पनि कुनै विद्यार्थीको उपलब्धिस्तरमा सुधार हुन नसकेमा यसको कारण खोजी गरी उपचारात्मक सिकाइको योजना बनाउनुपर्दछ भने अन्यलाई अग्रिम सिकाइमा सरिक गराउनुपर्दछ । सुधारात्मक सिकाइ पछि पुनः विद्यार्थीको मूल्याङ्कन गरी उपलब्धिस्तर निर्धारण गरेर पुनःअभिलेखीकरण गर्नुपर्छ । निश्चित सिकाइक्षेत्रका सिकाइउपलब्धिहरूको सिकाइ परीक्षणपश्चात् सो सिकाइक्षेत्रको औसत सिकाइ उपलब्धिसमेत गणना गरी विद्यार्थी र अभिभावकसँग छलफल गरी विद्यार्थीका सबलता र सुधारका क्षेत्र र उपाय पहिचान गर्नुपर्छ ।

Grade 2 Theme: Me and My Family 

(कक्षा २ को Me and My Family थिम भित्रका सबै कृयाकलापहरु गरिसकेपछि तल रातो अक्षरमा भएका जस्ता कृयाकलाप गराएर विद्यार्थीको मूल्याङ्कन गरी मूल्याङ्कन फाराममा हरेक सिकाइ उपलब्धिमा १, २, ३ वा ४ दिन सकिन्छ । तल कालो अक्षरमा भएका सिकाइ उपलब्धि हुन र रातो अक्षरमा भएका सम्भाव्य कृयाकलाप/प्रश्न हुन ।)

Listening: (Learning outcomes=Possible activity to evaluate the learning outcome)

1. Identify and discriminate sounds. =  Produce any four words and ask students to tell the beginning sound. For example Pen = /p/ /प/

2. Identify words that have the same initial, medial or final sound. = Tell the following words and ask the students to tell the final sound : father, sister, brother, mother.

3. Recognize, identify and produce rhyming words. (e.g. cow →now) = Ask students to tell and four rhyming words. For example : cow-now.

4. Identify individual sounds in words. = Ask students to identify individual sounds of the words : parents, village. (For example : father = /फ्/ /आ/ /द्/ /अ/

5. Comprehend words and simple expressions.= Tell four words and ask students to repeat.

6. Respond to the audio or the teacher verbally and non-verbally. = Ask any four questions and evaluate students' response.

7. Identify key information from a short speech or conversation. = Read a short paragraph and ask students to tell the main information from the paragraph.

8. Follow the message in short simple conversations. = Tell students to - stand up, sit down, go out, turn back. Evaluate them.

9. Perform a variety of listening comprehension tasks. = Ask students to listen and draw.

Speaking: (Learning outcomes=Possible activity to evaluate the learning outcome)

1. Decode phonetically regular and irregular words using letter sound knowledge, e.g. rat, too, blank, house, have, said, where, etc. = Tell some words and sounds. Ask students to imitate and produce the same words or sounds.
2. Produce words, phrases, simple sentences with intelligible pronunciation. = Ask the students to tell the following words with correct pronunciation : neice, nephew,  comb, knee
3. Participate in short conversation with teachers and friends using simple English. = Ask students to tell four sentences about themselves.
4. Ask and answer short, simple questions. = Ask the following questions:

a.       When should  we go to bed?

b.      Who are there in your family?

c.       Tell any four names of your body parts.

d.      What time is it now?

5. Sing or recite a song/chant by listening to the teacher or an audio. = sing a chant (for example: Johnny Johnny…) and ask the students to sing the same chant.

Reading: (Learning outcomes=Possible activity to evaluate the learning outcome)

1. Put sounds together to read words and sentences. = Ask students to read the following:

Hi friends! I am Pranisa from Arghakhanchi. I am six years old.

2. Recognize and read words with the help of the visuals. = Show the picture from page no. 2 and ask the students to tell four words from it.

3. Understand the meaning of grade appropriate words. = Tell some words and ask students to tell the meaning. (From book)
4. Perform rhymes and chants with appropriate rhyme and rhythm. = Ask students to read the chant from page no. 11.
5. Read sentences and short paragraphs correctly. = Ask the students to read the first paragraph of page no. 13.
6. Retrieve specific information (names, number, etc) from reading texts. = Read the following text and complete the tasks:

Good morning. My name is Bonzo. I am six years old. Banana is my favourite food.

a.       Bonzo is ……….. years old.

b.      His favourite food is …………..

7. Decode words correctly which have consonant diagraphs in initial positions ( th, sh, ch, wh), vowel diagraphs (oo, ee, ea, oa, aw, ai, ay), initial consonant blends (sw, sn, sk, bl, br, ch, cl, cr, dr, fl, gl, ph, pl,pr, sh, sl, sm, sp, st, th, tr, tw, wh, qu), and final consonant blends (nd, nk, nt, mp). = Ask the students to read the following words: swimming, them, snake, teeth.

Writing: (Learning outcomes=Possible activity to evaluate the learning outcome)

1. Write words in correct order to form simple sentences. = Write the words in correct order to form meaningful sentences:

a.      My is name Fin. ……………………………………

b.     This is head my. ……………………………………

2. Write dictated words, phrases and sentences. = Tell four words and ask students to write them.

a.      ………...            b. ………. c. …………         d. ……...

3. Use capital letters, full stops and question marks correctly. = Use capital letter where necessary.

a.      my name is rita. ………………………….

b.     i  live in nepal.  ………………………….

4. Give basic personal information in writing (e.g. name, address, age, nationality, family information, etc.). = Answer the following questions:

a.      What is your name?

b.     How old are you?

5. Use correct spelling of words. = Correct the following words:

6. Connect sentences using simple coordinators, (e.g. 'and' and 'but'). = Complete the sentences using 'and' or 'but'.

a.      Bunny ……… Rita are friends.

d.     My father …….. mother love me.

7. Demonstrate good handwriting skills. =   Write four sentences about your family.

THE ABOVE MENTIONED TEST ITEMS ARE JUST FOR EXAMPLE. TEACHERS CAN DESIGN THEIR OWN TEST ITEMS.
